Megan Kaminski & Jim McCrary + Open Mic: December 1st

Taproom Poetry Winter Party
Megan Kaminski & Jim McCrary
+ Open Mic
5pm Sunday December 1st

Winter is coming, and we're having a party! Come celebrate the coming of winter, the ending of the semester, the first day of December, and poetry, of course. We'll have an extended open mic session (with additional spots on the sign-up sheet) to start, and then Taproom Poetry curators Megan Kaminski and Jim McCrary will read some of their own work. Michael will be manning the bar, and we'll also bake some cookies for you. As always, our book table will be in full swing with many wonderful books and chapbooks of poetry written by local writers.

Megan Kaminski is the author of Desiring Map (Coconut Books 2012) and six chapbooks of poetry, most recently This Place (Dusie, 2013) and Gemology ( LRL Textile Series, 2012). Previously residing in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Casablanca, and Portland, OR, Megan has lived in Lawrence, Kansas, for the past six+ years and happily calls it home. She teaches creative writing and literature at the University of Kansas and curates the Taproom Poetry Series. http://www.megankaminski.com/

Jim McCrary has work in Otoliths and forthcoming in House Organ (print only) and reviews in Eileen Tabios' Galatea Resurrects upcoming online pub. His latest self published chapbooks include Es Verdad, Not Not, Knock Knock, M Ental Tekst and Po Doom. He is looking for someone who wants to help produce a play written for puppets by Jane Bowles in the 1930's .... which he thinks could be the next big thing. He continues to help out at at the 8th St. Taproom Poetry Series in downtown Lawrence, Ks.
